An internist is a personal physician who provides long-term care both in the office and in the hospital for both common and complex illnesses including hypertension, diabetes, headaches, cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, arthritis, and all other diseases of the digestive, respiratory, and vasuclar systems. 

 

Internists are also trained in the essentials of primary care internal medicine, which incorporates an understanding of disease prevention and wellness, substance abuse, mental health, and the effective treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system, and reproductive organs.

Podiatry

 

A Podiatrist is a medical

specialist in the treatment

of the foot and lower-limb,

and a surgical specialist of

the foot.

 

The conditions treated by a

podiatrist include: 1) Skin conditions such as corns, callouses, infections of the skin and nails, ulcers, rashes, sweaty feet, etc., 2) Joint, muscle, and tendon

disorders of the feet, ankles, shin, knee, and hip (including sports injuries) such as arthritis, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, "shin splints", etc., 3) Poor circulation of the feet and legs, 4) Diabetic problems such as chronic ulcers and neuropathy. Podiatrists are the specialists in the use of foot supports called "orthotics", and they perform foot surgery to correct bunions, hammertoes, neuromas, flat feet and other structural foot problems.
